Using insights from her bestselling book, award-winning journalist and author Yardena Schwartz will join veteran Israeli journalist and podcaster Haviv Rettig Gur to explore how nearly a century of conflict and disinformation has shaped the Middle East today and the possible paths forward.

Featured Speaker: Yardena Schwartz

Yardena Schwartz is an award-winning journalist, Emmy-nominated producer and author of the bestselling book Ghosts of a Holy War: The 1929 Massacre in Palestine That Ignited the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Between 2013 to 2023, Yardena was based in Israel, where she reported for dozens of publications, including The New York Times, New York Review of Books, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, The Economist, National Geographic and Foreign Policy. She previously worked at NBC News and MSNBC. Yardena graduated with honors from Columbia Journalism School, received an Emmy nomination for her work at MSNBC and the Religion News Association Award for Excellence in Magazine Reporting. She now lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband and children. Ghosts of a Holy War is Yardena’s first book.

Featured Speaker: Haviv Rettig Gur

Haviv Rettig Gur is a veteran Israeli journalist, host of the Ask Haviv Anything podcast, Middle East analyst at The Free Press and senior analyst at The Times of Israel. He has covered Israel’s politics, foreign policy, education system and relationship with the Jewish diaspora since 2005, reported from over 20 countries, served as director of communications for the Jewish Agency for Israel, Israel’s largest NGO and taught at prestigious pre-military academies.
